A.
The central point is that, according to the author, attractive people are more beneficial than less attractive people.
B.
Example of believable evidence that support the writer's arguments comes from a study of University graduates by the Wall Street Journal. It revealed that well-proportioned wage earners who were six-foot-two or taller earned 12 percent more than men under six feet. Ronald Burke, a York University psychologist and industrial consultant, said that tall men are assumed to be dynamic, decisive and powerful. In other words, good leaders.
Since studies has been done on this, it meets the criteria for being a reliable support of evidence.
Another reliable evidence comes from Karen Dion, a University of Toronto social psychologist who does person perception research. She states that people like to think that success isn't based on how we look, but on intelligence, talent and hard work. But she says that scientific evidence is undeniable.
She states that if you look like Jane Fonda or Paul Newman, it will be assumed that you are more trustworthy, sociable, generous, interesting and sexually responsive than the rest of us.
If you are physically unattractive, because of the "horns effect", it will be assumed that you are mean, sneaky, dishonest, antisocial and poor sport.
The existence of the Halo/horns effect have been established by several studies, that is why it meets the criteria for being a reliable support of evidence.
C.
One thing that is a weak support of evidence, is the statement that "If you're beautiful, without effort you attract hordes of friends a lovers. You are given higher school grades than your smarter- but less appealing- classmates. You compete successfully for jobs against men and women who are better qualified but less alluring..."
This is not proven to be reliable evidence, and it's the author's own opinion and a generalization. That is why this is a weak support of evidence.
Another example of weak support comes from Dr. Pam Ennis. She states: "Look at the photos announcing promotions in the Globe And Mail business section. It's no accident that so many of the women happen to be attractive and sexy-looking".
That statement was her own opinion and not supported by research evidence. That is why this is a weak support.
D.
According to Karen Dion, her study provided by 243 female university students described the beautiful girl in glowing terms such as: "She appears to be a perfectly charming little girl, well mannered and basically unselfish." The beautiful girl was claimed to just be having a bad day, and because of that, her cruelty didn't need to be taken too seriously.
Whereas, a homely girl got this comment from another evaluator: " I think this child could be quite bratty and would be a problem to teachers." It was assumed that she'd probably pick a fight with other children and that she would be a real problem.
E.
I definately think that we judge after appearances and I think the reason why is because it is more convenient. We believe that good-looking people have better personality and qualities than an unattractive person. And by believing so, we have an easier time deciding who we want to be with or talk to. I know this is a generalization, but this is what I believe according to personal observations. My sister is being teased in school because of her overwight, but she is a really sweet kid, with a neat personality. But many people don't want to dig underneath, they stay superficial, and just focus on a persons appearance. It is sad, because character traits such as kindness and loyalty are being over-looked.
